タイガーストライプに見慣れている方であれば、もしかすると違いに気が付くかもしれません。初期沖縄タイガーのシャツの胸ポケットは他のタイガーパターンのシャツやロット違いの沖縄タイガーシャツに比べてポケットが大きいのが特徴です。また、デニムジャケットのように小さい肩幅でありながら袖丈が長い当時の独特な縫製。これはUSカットのシルバータイガーシャツにも同様の特徴が見られます。虫の侵入を防ぐややタイトな袖口幅、USカット特有の左腕に装着されたバンテージポケットなど少数でもあるアメリカ人特殊部隊向けにCIDG一般兵士とは異なる細かい違いがございます。いわゆるタイガーストライプらしい仕様が誕生したきっかけとなったシャツです。

If you are familiar with the Tiger stripe, perhaps you will notice a difference. The chest pocket on early Okinawa Tiger shirts has a larger pocket than on other Tiger pattern shirts and different lots of Okinawa Tiger shirts. Also, the unique sewing of the time with small shoulder width like a denim jacket but with long sleeve length. This same characteristic can be seen in US-cut silver tiger shirts. There are some minor differences from the CIDG general soldiers, such as the slightly tighter cuff width to prevent insect infiltration and the bandage pocket on the left arm, which is unique to the US cut, for a small number of American Special Forces. It is a shirt that became a trigger for the birth of the so-called Tiger Stripe-like specifications.

アメリカ人特殊部隊員の多くは、体系差からも明らかなようにUSカットのパンツを着用していることが多く当時の写真を見ても明らかに現地兵士の着用しているパンツとは異なります。大きな特徴は大きめな左右手元にあるポケット、そしてジッパーフライです。当時の実物では、YKKジッパーのロットとHAMAジッパーのロットとございましたが共通していたのは通常パンツでは使わないNo5サイズの大きいスライダーが仕様されていたことです。当店の復刻品では、それを踏襲しNo5サイズのYKKアルミジッパーを採用。全体的にみてやや寸胴型のパンツシルエットも当時のままに再現いたしました。サイズチャートから見てわかるように、今回は少し大きめの作りになっています。これは当時のままの仕様でパンツはやや余裕がある着用をすることで長距離をジャングルの中で歩きやすいように設計されています。

Many American Special Forces personnel wore US-cut pants, as evidenced by the difference in their body types, and even looking at photos from that time, they were clearly different from the pants worn by local soldiers. The main features are the large left and right hand pockets and the zipper fly. The common feature was the large No. 5 size slider, which is not usually used for pants. Our reissue of the YKK zipper lot uses a No. 5 size YKK aluminum zipper. The overall silhouette of the pants is also reproduced as it was in those days. 今回より当店製のブーニーハットは沖縄製ではなく、日本本土製のMADE IN JAPANとなりました。CISOが開発し工場生産した一般的なブリムが6.5mmの長さのブーニーハットをご用意いたしました。過去販売したものとは異なり、型紙から新たに作り直しておりますので着用感なども異なります。当店の生地は縮むため、少し大きめに製造しておりますが洗濯後に着用ができなくなるのを防ぐためです。ブーニーハットはベトナム戦争において多数の種類が存在しそして使用されました。その中でも、陸軍特殊部隊やCIDGの兵士に軍より支給された一般的な形状のものを今回も製造いたしました。当店のブーニーハットの一番の特徴として、ブリムの形状を好みの形に変えられるようにワイヤーがインストールされている点です。当時作られたブーニーの中にも、工場生産時にあらかじめインストールされていた個体が御座いました。今回は従来よりも柔らかい素材を使用しているので形状記憶はシビアではありませんが、過去製造のブーニー同様状況に応じて形状をお楽しみ頂けます。

We are pleased to announce that our boonie hats are now MADE IN JAPAN, with a 6.5mm brim, developed and manufactured by CISO in our factory. Unlike the hats we have sold in the past, these hats are newly made from a new pattern, so the feel of the hat is different. Our fabric shrinks, so we manufacture our hats a little larger, but this is to prevent them from becoming unwearable after washing. Many types of boonie hats existed and were used during the Vietnam War. Among them, we have manufactured the general shape that was provided to Army Special Forces and CIDG soldiers by the military. One of the best features of our boonie hats is that a wire is installed so that the shape of the brim can be changed to the desired shape. Some of the boonies made at that time were pre-installed at the time of factory production. This time, the material used is softer than before, so the shape memory is not as severe, but you can enjoy the shape depending on the situation, just like the boonies made in the past.

過去の製品同様、実物の沖縄タイガーストライプ生地の縦糸と横糸の太さを採取し1970年代の織機によって当時と出来るだけ同じプロセスでベースとなる生地を製造いたしました。セルビッチの耳の模様、生地質、厚さ、全てにおいて実物同様の仕上がりです。しばしばタイガーストライプ生地は高温多湿なジャングルにおいて乾きにくく着用していると不便に感じることが多かったという意見が当時従軍した元兵士より聞くことがあります。実際に沖縄タイガー生地はヘビーウェイトで当時考えうる頑丈な生地であったことがわかります。昭和の時代日本製のコットン生地は当時の一般で流通していた作業服でも同様ですが柔らかいコットン100%生地でありながら、非常に厚手で丈夫でした。日本で作られたタイガーストライプも同様の思想のもと、より改良が重ねられ最終的にはレイトウォーパターンのような薄手生地にたどり着いていきました。その原点とも言うべき、ヘビーウェイトな沖縄タイガー生地を是非お楽しみください。

As with past products, we have taken the warp and weft thickness of the actual Okinawa tiger stripe fabric and manufactured the base fabric on 1970s looms using the same process as in those days as much as possible. The selvedge ear pattern, texture, thickness, and all other aspects of the fabric are the same as the actual product. Often we hear from ex-soldiers who served in the military that tiger stripe fabric was often inconvenient to wear in the hot and humid jungle because it was hard to dry. In fact, Okinawa Tiger fabrics were heavyweight and as sturdy as could be imagined at the time. The cotton fabrics made in Japan during the Showa era (1926-1989) were very thick and durable, even though they were made of 100% cotton, which was softer than the commonly distributed work uniforms of the time. Tiger stripes made in Japan were also based on the same concept, but were further improved and eventually arrived at a thin fabric like the late war pattern. We hope you will enjoy this heavyweight Okinawan Tiger fabric, which can be called the origin of the Tiger Stripe.

毎度申し上げる通り、当店のタイガーストライプが後世において実物として販売されることを防ぐために当店の店名スタンプはもちろん実物ではあり得ない点に黒い糸を今回も使用しています。襟の後ろの縫い目、パンツにおいてはポケットの裏地に黒い生地を今回は使用しています。

当店からリリースする、シャツ、パンツ、ブーニーハットはどれも個体差がございます。用いている生地も実物とおなじように染色を開始した時と終えた時とでは色味に若干の差がございます。また迷彩パターンも必ず同じ箇所が同じ場所に来る事は非常に困難なため、お手元に届く商品が見本の写真と同じ仕上がりにはなりません。了承くださいませ。退色具合も固体によって、若干の差が出て参ります。商品の初期不良は同等品との交換、在庫切れの場合は返金にて対応いたします。 また、コットン100%生地を使用しているため多少なりとも縮みます。通常の家庭用の洗濯においては着用が困難になるような縮み方は致しません。しかしながら、高温の熱湯などで洗濯を行った場合当店の想定よりも縮むことがありますので当店では通常の使い方以外の洗濯方法は推奨しておりません。想定以外の方法を行う場合は、自己責任となります。

There is a slight difference in the color of the fabric used when the dyeing process begins and ends, just like the original. In addition, it is very difficult for camouflage patterns to always be in the same place at the same time, so the product you receive will not be the same as the sample photo. Please be aware of this. The color fading will also vary slightly from product to product. If the product is initially defective, we will replace it with an equivalent product, or refund you if it is out of stock. Also, since it is made of 100% cotton, it will shrink to some extent. In normal household laundry, it will not shrink in a way that makes it difficult to wear. However, if you wash it in hot water, it may shrink more than expected by us, so we do not recommend washing it in any other way than the normal way. If you decide to try washing your gold tiger stripe using methods other than those recommended by us, do so at your own risk.

Through this replica production, we are investigating the history of the production and birth of the Tiger Stripe in Japan and Okinawa. We plan to publish a book on the subject after further research.
